Common questions
What areas do you cover?
We build across the Northern Beaches, the North Shore and the Lower North Shore, with projects in Fairlight, Balgowlah Heights and Frenchs Forest. We also work in the Eastern Suburbs, Newcastle and the Hunter Region.
What size of renovation do you take on?
Our renovations and extensions typically start from $250,000. We focus on major renovations, extensions, second storey additions and knockdown rebuilds, rather than single rooms such as a kitchen or bathroom on their own.
How does your fixed price contract work?
Drawings, reports, engineering and approvals are completed first under a Preliminary Agreement. We then prepare a fixed price contract with all inclusions and exclusions clearly listed, so you know the investment before construction starts. If anything changes during the build, we explain the cost and time impact before going ahead.
Can you handle design and approvals, or work with my architect?
Both. We offer design and construct with in-house interior design, managing the drawings, reports and approvals needed to build. If you already have an architect or designer, we are happy to come in early and help keep the design buildable and on budget.
How long does a major renovation or extension take?
It depends on the design, approvals, site and structural work. A major renovation with structural work usually takes several months once construction begins. You receive a project specific programme before construction, so the timing is clear from the start.
Who will I deal with during the project?
You deal directly with Jordan, the director, from the first conversation through to handover. You will not be passed from a sales team to a separate site team, and you receive regular updates with photos throughout the build.
Are you licensed, and what warranties apply?
Yes. Northgate Building Group holds NSW Builder Licence 480186C and is a member of Master Builders NSW. Every project is covered by the statutory warranties under the Home Building Act: 6 years for major defects and 2 years for other defects.
